After a disappointing first quarter, the Swans managed to get their act together. It is great to have the AFL season underway again, even if the Swans lost their first outing! They always lose the first round and so are just keeping up their tradition.
I had a great night though, an exciting game of AFL accompanied by a lovely roast pork dinner with roast veggies and lashings of gravy! Hmm YUM.
Kennelly and O’Keefe seemed to always be in the thick of the action. With Kieran Jack showing signs of becoming a great player. I just hope the Swans allow him to develop and not delist him, as they did with Luke Vogels or trade him, like they did with Adam Schneider.
Barry Hall seems to be playing better this year. Though, something is still not quite right there. I think it is frustrating him and it showed tonight with the return of vintage Bustling Barry. I have to admit that Barry Hall will always be a favourite of mine, no matter how well or badly he plays. He was the bridge between Rugby League and AFL that I needed to get hooked on AFL. I say keep it up!! Though, please score some more goals for the Bloods!
I also have to admit that Adam Schneider looks good in that St Kilda uniform. He played ok for most of the night. He seemed to have a brain freeze in the 4th quarter where he was run down by Barry Hall and gave a free kick to the Swans. Schneider looks trim and fit and ready to have a great season… if for the opposition.
Final Score St Kilda 6:16:51 defeated Sydney 6:14: 49
