A couple of weeks ago on the SLOG – Swans blog on the Sydney Morning Herald website,the author Jano Gibson, in the post titled To boo or not to boo - posed the question whether Swans fans would BOO Adam Schneider now that he is playing for the opposition.
I don’t think this was a fair question. Schneider didn’t ask to be transferred. In fact he wasn’t even in the country when the deal went down! It’d show pretty bad sportsmanship to boo him when he had no choice in the matter. He isn’t the type of player you are likely to boo anyway. He isn’t outspoken or badly behaved. He isn’t a Jason Akermanis type player.
So it was most gratifying to see that most of the supporters who commented on the blog said they would not boo him. What’s more I am not the only one who was sad that the Swans let him go and wish him all the best at St Kilda.
That being said, I’m sure no one wants his team to with the Round 1 clash against the Swans!
